opus fourteeni keep to myself the ideas and thoughts i've long harvested in these recent months, holding them in my heart and lining my mind
with them like flowered wallpaper; they are always present no matter where i turn to in the deepest, cobwebbed corners of the places i go to be alone.

can't go anywhere these days
without keeping an eye out for someone.
the square is full of familiar facial hair and flannel.
we've exchanged names and numbers
(and you know what else).
after our awkward parting outside the record store,
i saw him walking around the square
(alone three more times)
but i didn't go after him.
i'm practicing for the future when i see him
on the street and will pretend not to have any desire
to attract his attention.
must be invincible,
you see,
always. and free.
got-to-be-free,
whatever the fuck that means.
